Pergeseran Tradisi Hari Raya Enam (Ziarah Kubur) Di Desa Ganting Damai Kecamatan Salo Kabupaten Kampar
This study discusses the transformation of the Hari Raya Enam (Grave Pilgrimage) tradition in Ganting Damai Village, Salo Subdistrict, Kampar Regency. This tradition is an important part of the cultural and spiritual identity of the local Malay community and is held every 8th of Syawal. It consists of four main stages: fasting for six days in Syawal, grave cleaning, grave pilgrimage and communal prayers, and the bajambau communal meal. The aim of this research is to explore the forms of change occurring in each stage of the tradition and the contributing factors. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results reveal changes in both practice and meaning for example, fasting is no longer done consecutively, grave cleaning is handled by professional services, and traditional dishes are being replaced with more practical food. Factors contributing to these shifts include increased religious understanding, community busyness, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, lack of socialization by religious and customary leaders, difficult grave access, and technological advancement. These findings reflect a process of modernization and rationalization of cultural and spiritual values, as explained in Max Weber’s theory of social change.
