Each institution, organization, agency business and government agencies
also want to get a positive image of the community. PR as a bridge between
istansi with the community have a role in achieving the expected positive image.
Positive image is the main aim of the activities undertaken by public relations
practitioners, as well as the Secretariat of Public Relations of Town Pekanbaru.
In its development, the City of Pekanbaru is still overshadowed by the issues or
negative publicity that could affect the image provided by the community. This
research aims to: (1) Determine the Regional Secretariat of Public Relations
activities in enhancing the positive image of Pekanbaru City Government. (2)
Determine the Regional Secretariat of Public Relations media in enhancing the
positive image of Pekanbaru City Government.
This research used descriptive qualitative method. The source data
consists of primary data is which formed as a response to the problems studied
informant while secondary data is data sourced from the Regional Secretariat of
Public Relations of documentation in the form of an overview of Pekanbaru,
organizational structure, number of employees and duties and roles of employees.
Data collection using observation (observation), interviews, and documentation.
The data analysis technique in this research is data analysis techniques of Miles
and Hubberman model using the component data reduction, data presentation,
and drawing and testing conclusions. While checking the validity of technical data
through the extension of participation and triangulation.
The results showed that public relations activities Pekanbaru City
Regional Secretariat is processing data, information and publications. Public
relations activities in enhancing the positive image is the activities associated
with the lighting as providing information services to the community, coming into
contact with the mass media, and provides news to reporters. In conducting its
activities, public relations can not be separated from the mass media. Media is a
publicist who used the mass media (print media, electronic media, online media),
outdoor media (banners and billboards), Bulletin of the Sorcerer, leadership
speeches, and website pekanbaru.go.id
