This study aimed to analyze the influence of Family Structure (intact family structure and disrupted family structure) against Materialism behavior in high school adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru. In this study, there are three variables: Family Structure (X), Family Resources (Z), and Materialism (Y1). The population of this study were all high school adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru with a sample of 150 respondents were selected using purposive sampling method. collecting data in this study is done by giving questionnaires to respondents, In terms of data analysis, this study using the Independent Samples T-test and Path Analysis with SPSS version 22.
The results of this study indicate that by way of directly the variable Family Structure (intact family structure and disrupted family structure) has positive influence on the behavior of Materialism in high school adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru, but indirectly Family Structure (intact family structure and disrupted family structure) effect on the behavior of Materialism at the high school adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru becomes smaller. This means Family Resources do not mediate the relationship Family Structure (intact family structure and disrupted family structure) against Materialism behavior in high school adolescent in the city of Pekanbaru. In addition, there are differences in the behavior of Materialism, where high school adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru who come from families with impaired (disrupted family structure) such as divorce, death, or separation (rarely live at home) are more likely to behave Materialism than high school adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru derived from intact families (intact family structure).
