The background of the problem in this research is the process of learning is still dominated by the teacher so that students accept what teachers and students do not understand how the actual drawing steps, resulting in poor students draw shapes exactly or similar to its original form, for it action research needs to be done with the application of Model Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) to improve the ability to draw shapes IIID grade students of SDN 165 Pekanbaru. Subjects in this study were 165 grade IIID SDN Pekanbaru academic year 2011/2012 the number of students 34. The research was conducted in two cycles, the first cycle performed twice pertemuan.dan second cycle was also conducted two meetings. Data collection instrument in this study is the observation sheet student, teacher observation sheet, rubric assessment process and outcome assessment rubric. The study is in the form of classroom action research (CAR), which aims to improve the ability to draw in class IIID Elementary School 165 Pekanbaru.Pada material to draw shapes. These results indicate that the application of learning models CTL can improve the ability to draw shapes IIID grade elementary school students 165 Pekanbaru. At baseline only 15 students were able to draw with the average value of 61 and a percentage of 44.11%. In the first cycle of students who are able to draw up as many as 21 people, an increase of 17.64%. Further increases in the second cycle over again that students are able to draw as many as 28 people out of 34 students increased 20.58%. This shows that the application of the model CTL can improve the ability to draw shapes IIID grade elementary school students 165 Pekanbaru.
