A Study On The Ability Of Second Year Students At SMAN 12 Pekanbaru In Comprehending Report Texts

This is a descriptive research that aimed to find out the ability of the second year students of SMAN 12 Pekanbaru in comprehending report text. The population of this research was 153 second year social students and the sample consisted of 38 students. The data was collected by using reading comprehension test. The students were given eight report text with five questions for each text. The research finding indicated that the students were capable in comprehending report text although they still had difficultyin guessing the meaning of vocabularies in context. The result of test showed the average score of students’ comprehending test was 59,63. It showed that the students’ ability in comprehending report text were sufficient.
