Peningkatan Kualitas Limbah Cair Pmks Dengan Proses Biofilter Zeolit Ditinjau Dari Kadar Amoniak Dan Tss Untuk Media Hidup Ikan Budidaya
The liquid waste originated from palm oil industry is rich in organic materials and thus need to be processed before being discharged. To understand the effectiveness of the zeolit-completed processor in reducing the ammonia and TSS concentration, a study has been conducted in January to June 2015. Liquid waste was flown to the processors (anaerob and aerob) continuously and water sampling started in the 2nd week, in the inlet and in the outlets of the anaerob and aerob processors. Samplings were conducted times, once/ 2 weeks. Results shown that the processor is effective for reducing the TSS and ammonia content. The TSS was 750 mg/l (in the inlet), 22.61 (in the Anaerob outlet) and 13.94 mg/l (in the aerob outlet) and the effectiveness was 96.44 %. While the ammonia content was 153 mg/l; 28.96 mg/l and 24.83 mg/l respectively (the effectiveness was 82.05%). The processed waste may be used for rearing fish. After being reared for 4 days, the survival rate of Cyprinus carpio was 50 %, Oreochromis niloticus was 60 %, and Clarias gariepinus was 80%.
