Pembuatan Biodiesel Dari Palm Fatty Acid Distilate (Pfad) Dengan Menggunakan Katalis Caco3, Cao, Dan Pcc
Making biodiesel from Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) through processes, Esterification processes which produce methyl esters which can be used as an alternative to petroleum substitutes for diesel fuel. The purpose of this research is to utilize PFAD as raw material of biodiesel making with esterification process then continued with transesterification process, Studied the influence of esterification process and PFAD transesterification process on biodiesel making and studied the effect of CaCO3, CaO and PCC (Precipitated Calcium Carbonate) catalysts on transesterification process on biodiesel production. In this research, biodiesel making with two processes is esterification and transesterification. In the esterification process used H2SO4 catalyst and in transesterification process using CaCO3, CaO and PCC catalyst as variable change. The parameters measured were density, viscosity, flash point and biodisel heat value. Of the three catalysts used CaO yielded high density, viscosity and flash point compared to CaCO3 and PCC catalysts are 0.869 gr/cm3, 5.80 cSt and 160 0C. The yield of biodiesel oil from PFAD obtained using CaCO3, CaO and PCC catalyst were 57%, 65% and 54%, respectively.
