To oversee the distribution of illegal prescription drugs will be established Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) to ensure public health. BPOM has the task of assessment and formulation of national policies in the field of drug and food control, the implementation of certain policies in the field of food and drug supervision, coordination of functional activities in BPOM task execution, monitoring, mentoring and guidance to government agencies and the public in the field of drug and food, as well as the development and implementation of public administration services in the field of planning administration, organization and management, personnel, finance, filing, legal, coding, equipment, and household. The data used for the completion of this thesis is the primary data and secondary data and data collection techniques used observation, questionnaires, interviews, and Library Studies
The purpose of this study was to find out how to control the sale of hard drugs by BPOM Pekanbaru, the obstacles in its implementation and what efforts are being made to maximize performance BPOM Pekanbaru to oversee the distribution of hard drugs in the city of Pekanbaru.
From the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the control of hard drug sales in the city of Pekanbaru by BPOM not running optimally, where there are duties and functions that have not been done, it is characterized by the number of hard drug circulating in the city of Pekanbaru hard drugs illegally and will certainly harm the public as consumers pekanbaru. In carrying out the task of monitoring the circulation of hard drugs in the city of Pekanbaru, BPOM Pekanbaru experiencing multiple barriers such as lack of human resources, and facilities and infrastructure BPOM Pekanbaru, lack of coordination with relevant agencies, lack of public awareness, as well as the intention of the owner of the drug store to circulate hard drugs. Efforts have been made by the city of Pekanbaru BPOM among others, by the arrangement of human resources, improve public services and improve coordination with the relevant agencies.
