Dye Sensitized Solar Cells Berbasis Nanorod Zno Yang Dimodifikasi Dengan Penambahan Material Plasmonik Ag-Au Untuk Peningkatan Efisiensi

Modification of dye sensitized solar cells by adding Ag-Au to ZnO nanorods has successfully been carried out by seed mediated growth method. Addition of Ag-Au has been done at different duration time of growth and number of Au-seeding process. The characterization results of XRD, FESEM-EDX concluded that new structures of Ag has not been observed, but it was substituted to the ZnO nanorods lattice. On the other hand, Au nanoparticles grew to with its cubic structure on the surface of ZnO nanorods. The presence of Ag on the ZnO blue shifted the reflectance peaks with increasing growth time. Meanwhile, the reflectance curve of Au:ZnO (twice seeding) showed two reflectance peaks at 450nm and 650nm due to SPR pattern. Although the reflectance curve of Ag:ZnO did not show SPR pattern, but it increased absorption significantly by decreasing its band gap energy. DSSC devices based on Ag:ZnO, Au-Seed:ZnO, and Au:ZnO have been successfully fabricated and examined. The J-V curve in dark condition of the devices showed the typical diode characteristics. The J-V characteristics under halogen illumination showed increasing the efficiency significantly when the Ag-Au plasmonic materials were added to the ZnO nanorods. The highest efficiences at 1.12%, 0.52%, and 1.11%, were resulted respectively from Ag:ZnO, Au-Seed:ZnO, and Au:ZnO based DSSC, increased at 143.48 times, 13.04 times, and 141.30 times compared to that of ZnO-pure based DSSC of 0.463%. Effect of the growth time and the number of multiple seeding to the DSSC efficiency was also studied in this research, showing similar trend. Significant increase of efficiency was observed for the Ag:ZnO based device (with growth time of 10 minutes) at 1.12%, this value then decreased linearly with increasing growth time of Ag. Meanwhile, for the device with number of multiple Au-seeding, the efficiency increased as the number of multiple Au-seeding until the optimum value of 0.52% (for the device with twice seeding), this value of efficiency then decreased significantly as the number of multiple seeding more than two times. DSSC based on Au:ZnO showed its efficiency increased linearly until the highest value of 1.11% was reached that produced from 1 minute of growth time device. The efficiency was then decreased significantly when the growth time was longer than 1 minute.
