The appearance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the vlog attracted the attention of the students of FISIP Riau University, this is related to the image displayed by President Jokowi in the vlog. The image of course is an important thing from President Jokowi both as a state leader as well as a government official. This image is formed from the public's perception and attitude about the vlog. How public opinion depends on the role of media and interpersonal communication, as Elizabeth Noelle Neuman puts it in the theory of silent spirals. The purpose of this study is to find out Opinion of government science students Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Riau University to self image of President Jokowi in Kaesang blog video.
This study uses Silence Spiral Theory. This theory explains that the opinion that appears on the surface is the opinion of the majority, while the minority opinion will be silent. The assumptions of this theory are 1) the community threatens the perverted individual; 2) the fear of isolation is very powerful; 3) Public behavior is influenced by the assessment of opinions. This research type is descriptive quantitative with approach of survey method. Data collection techniques in this study using questionnaires. Sampling using accidental sampling technique is by choosing whoever found match with this research. To know opinion on self image of researcher use simple linear regression analysis by using Statistic Program And Service Solution Program (SPSS) Windows version 21.
The results of research on the opinion of government science students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Riau on President Jokowi's self-image shows that there has been a positive self-image in the eyes of the students. Thus Ho is rejected and Ha accepted.
