Potensi Air Gambut Sebagai Media Kultivasi Mikroalga
Peat water is the surface water of peat soil with a very striking characteristic because it is brownish red color, contains high organic matter and high enough iron, acid taste with pH 3-5 and low level of hardness. Peat water has potential as supply of nutrients in microalgae cultivation. Some microalgae growth factors are light intensity, CO2 and nutrients. The purpose of this study is to determine the physical and chemical properties of peat water and determine the potential of peat water as a nutrient in microalgae cultivation. In this study before analyzing, each peat water was filtered first. After that measurement of pH and TSS. The content of metals (Ca, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mg and Zn) in peat water was tested using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric (AAS) device. Furthermore Orthopospat and nitrate testing on peat water was carried out in each sample. The results showed that peat water has the potential as a source of nutrition for microalgae cultivation because it provides light, temperature, pH, macro and micro nutrients such as N, P, Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Zn, CO2 and O2. The temperature in Bengkalis Regency is 27oC and the temperature in Meranti Islands Regency is 28oC. The color of peat water ranges between 139-933cu. TSS peat water ranges from 0.12 to 0.88 ppm. The CO2 content of peat water is 23.9712-67.9184 mg/L, the content of O2 of peat water is 10.4832-16.1212 mg/L, the content of Ca peat water is 0.2526-0.5947 mg/L, the content of Cu is peat water that is 0.0714-0.0965 mg/L, the content of Fe peat water is 1,137-2,878 mg/L, the content of Mg of peat water is 0,1256-0,1528 mg/L, the content of Mn of peat water is 0,3158-0,4511 mg/L, Zn content of peat water is 0,2317-0,4192 mg/L. The level of metal in peat water does not cross the threshold so it is not dangerous for microalgae. Keywords: peat water, cultivation, microalgae, nutrients
