Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) was a progressive and irreversible disease thus requiring replacement therapy, one of which is hemodialysis. The incidence of CRFs reach 17,193 cases by 2014.The aim of this research was to identify the relationship between coping strategies with anxiety level in chronic renal failure patient who will undergo hemodialysis. Design of this study was descriptive correlative with cross sectional approach. The data was collected from 30 samples based on inclusions criteria using purposive sampling. Coping strategies was measured by The Ways of Coping Scale which has been tested for validity by r value (0.453-0.776) > r table (0.444) and reliability with r value (0.897) > r table (0.444) and anxiety level was measured by Zung Anxiety Self-Assessment Scalewhich has been tested for validity by r value (0.445-0.731) > r table (0.444) and reliability with r value (0.905) > r table (0.444). The univariate analysis was conducted to show frequency distribution and bivariate analysis was conducted by Chi-square test. The result of this study showed that there is 56.7% of patient was on adaptive coping strategies and 60.0% patient was on mild-moderate anxiety level. The statistic showed p value (0.042) < alpha (0.05) which means there was a significant relationship between coping strategies with anxiety level and this suggest the more adaptive coping strategies, anxiety level decreased and vice versa. This research suggest patient who will undergoing hemodialysis should increase their coping strategies to decrease anxiety level with positive thinking, increase spiritual activity and family support.
