Pengaruh Dosis Koagulan Dan Waktu Pengendapan Pasca Flokulasi Dalam Pengolahan Air Sungai Siak Menggunakan Koagulan Cair Berbasis Lempung Alam
SUMMARY
The Maredan clay is a relatively new clay of concern to the field of research. Maredan natural clay contained Al2O3 26.186% and Fe2O3 6.452%, and it’s potential as a source of liquid coagulant. Liquid coagulant was obtained by clay calcination stage at 700oC for 1 hour and leaching process using H2SO4 0,2 mol at 100oC for 2 hours. Liquid coagulant was analyzed levels of Al3+ and Fe3+ cations and their degree of acidity. Liquid coagulant was used in water treatment of Siak River by studying the effect of coagulant dose (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mL) and precipitation time post-flocculation (6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 hours). The optimum coagulant dose was used for variation of sedimentation time to 500 mL of Siak River water. The functional groups of compounds in the Siak River water before and after coagulation were analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR). Coagulant performance was measured by water parameters including: color, organic matter, turbidity and total suspended solid (TSS). The results of analysis were compared to PERMENKES No.416/MENKES/ PER/ IX/1990 and PP No. 82 year 2001. The liquid coagulant was shown pH 1.4 and the cation content of Al3+ 1.60 mg.L-1 and Fe3+ 6.396 mg.L-1. The coagulation process of water sample of Siak river at 20 mL coagulant dose and post-flocculation settling time for 12 hours was an optimum condition which was capable to decrease color 79.25%, organic matter 74.37%, turbidity 86,23% and TSS 50% respectively. By the coagulation process, the water sample of Siak River has 1.18 NTU of turbidity which was fulfilled PERMENKES No.416 MENKES/PER/ IX/1990 and TSS 32 mg.L-1 which was fulfilled Government Regulation No. 82 Year 2001. Siak River waters has a different intensity of functional groups (hydroxyl, alkene and alkyl halide) before and after coagulation process. These shown that the addition of coagulant and prepicipitation time post-flocculation was affected the organic matter in Siak River water.
