Pemanfaatan Biji Alpukat (Persea Americana Mill.) Dengan Penambahan Lilin Lebah (Beeswax) Pada Pembuatan Edible Film
Avocado seeds contain amylose that can be a raw material in making edible film. However, the edible film produced has a low water resistance. Therefore, it is necessary to add hydrophobic materials that will increase the durability of edible films against water, one of them is beeswax. This research was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The treatments in this research are B1 (5% beeswax), B2 (10% beeswax), B3 (15% beeswax), B4 (20% beeswax), and B5 (25% beeswax). The results of variance analysis illustrated that the addition of beeswax concentration had a significant effect on the thickness, solubility, resistance, and rate of water transfer of edible film. The best formulation is obtained in edible film with the addition of 5% beeswax that has a thickness of 0.28 mm, solubility of 23.59%, resistance of 313.35%, and the rate of water transfer 0.23 g.m-2. hour.
