Sintesis Dan Karakterisasi Membran Silika Dengan Variasi Aditif Polyethylene Glycol (Peg) Untuk Pengolahan Limbah Cair Hotel
Pollution that come from hotel liquid waste could reduce water quality on surrounding area. One of the ways to prevent water pollution that come from hotel liquid waste are treating liquid waste using membrane technology. In this study, silica membranes were made with 1;2;3 % (w/w) composition variation of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG). From SEM analysis, membrane with 1 % (w/w) PEG composition has smallest pore size of 69,2 nm and membrane with 3 % (w/w) PEG composition has largest pore size of 83,3 nm. From tensile test, membrane with 1 % (w/w) PEG composition has the highest tensile strength and young modulus which are 10.56 N/mm2 and 20,32 N/mm2 respectively but membrane with 3% (w/w) PEG composition has the highest elongation which is 140%. FTIR analysis showed that there are -OH stretching vibrations, -OH bending vibrations, C-H bending vibrations and Si-O-C stretching vibrations. Hotel liquid waste were treated using silica membranes with 1;2;3 bar operating pressure variation. The highest value of water flux was obtained on membranes with 1 % (w/w) PEG composition and 3 bar operating pressure, that is 28,89 L/(m2.hour). The highest rejection values of BOD5, COD and TSS parameters were obtained from membranes with 1 % (w/w) PEG composition and 1 bar operating pressure, that are 69,14%, 77,88% and 86,76% respectively.Keyword: membrane, polyethylene glycol (PEG), silica
