Analisis Daya Saing Ekspor Kayu Manis Indonesia Ke Negara Amerika
Indonesia is the world's largest producer and exporter of cinnamon. The largest importer country of Indonesian’s cinnamon is America. Indonesian’s cinnamon have problem. The problem is decline in production over the past 10 years. The causes are the low selling price at the farmer level, the length of the marketing chain, the poor quality of cinnamon and the low post-harvest processing. So, farmers plant other commodities. But, the world demand of cinnamon is increasing. The imbalance between domestic production and foreign export demand could threaten Indonesia's position as the world's largest exporter. The way to increase production is to know the potential of the Indonesian cinnamon market in the world. Market share that will surely give encouragement to farmers to increase production again. The focus research is analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian cinnamon to America based on comparative advantages analyzed using Realeved Comparative Advantage (RCA) and competitive advantage which are analyzed using the Market Specialization Index (ISP). The results showed that RCA value of Indonesian was 76 and Sri Lanka 205, while ISP values from Indonesia were 0.94 and Sri Lanka ISP were 0.95, meaning that Indonesian’s cinnamon and Sri Lankan’s cinnamon had comparative and competitive advantages. But Indonesia's comparative and competitive advantage is lower than Sri Lanka. So, Indonesian’s cinnamon in America is competitive, but it is less competitive than Sri Lanka. The way to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian’s cinnamon is improving the quality of cinnamon exported, diversify products such as processing cinnamon into oleoresin and essential oils to increase added value.
