ABSTRACT

Every architect have their own characteristics on each of their building design; some of it shows simplicity and pay attention in environment and some using an advance technology. Norman Foster is one of the architect in designing his building by using technology and utilizing nature for energy saving. Development Research is a systematic development effort towards designing, developing and evaluating programs, processes and learning products to find the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. In Pangkalan Kerinci there’s a wood processing factory named RAPP, which is the big one in Southeast Asia. Other than producing from the wood raw, it also produces a large of wood waste. To reduce the wood waste, it can be utilize into a useful products, so it was a needed to build a development research center for wood derivatives in Pangkalan Kerinci.The concept that will be applied to this design is annual rings, wich is as the year goes by the circle will be also continue to increase along with the age of the plants or trees. Just like Norman Foster, in process of design he always think about how the design can be sustainable and how will it be responsive to the natural surroundings.
