Strategi Adaptasi Industri Batik Tulis Di Kota Jambi (Studi Di Kecamatan Danau Teluk Kota Jambi)
Batik Jambi is the one of Jambi Malay cultural heritage. As one of the regional superior products, especially batik tulis must be able to maintain its existence in community. Despite having to compete with another Batik Jambi products that made from Java with lower prices and the ups and down of the number craftsmen in a recent years. The purpose of this research is to find out the strategies used by the owner Batik Jambi industry to be able to maintain their presence in the community.
This research was conductes in Sub District Danau Teluk, because in this region there are many Batik Jambi industry compared to other region. This current research used qualitative method and selection of informants by using purposive sampling. The data collection was carried out with observation, in-deep interviews method and documentation.
The finding of this research is showed that there are four strategies in the Batik Jambi industry. First, the successive investment strategy that the selection of workers according to certain criteria and involves the participation of families in running the Batik Jambi industry. Second, the educational investment strategy in which industry owners, craftsmen and the government collaborate through training and outreach programs and produce more varied and innovative products. Third, the economic investment strategy, that is by utilizing economic and social capital and innovating marketing techniques that are currently more easier and more attractive to the public. Fourth, a symbolic investment strategy that is seen in the efforts of industrial owners to improve the quality of their products so it can be improves sales and customer satisfaction.
