Motivasi Kerja Pegawai Honorer Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Dan Penataan Ruang Kota Dumai
This study tries to find an explanation: (1) What are the reasons (motives) for them to continue to work as honorary staff in the Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang in Dumai City? (2) What is the motivation of working temporary employees at the Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang in Dumai City? and (3) What are the barriers to the work of temporary employees at the Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang in Dumai City? The study uses rational choice theory and motivation theory. The method uses descriptive quantitative with a sample of 53 honerer employees. The results of the study found the reasons or motives for them to continue working as honorary staff in Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang in Dumai City are: (1) Feeling right and right with the experience and education they have (2) Difficult choices in finding jobs outside survive even in a minimal amount of income. (3) There is an emotional bond and comfort in working with an adaptive environment. (4) They still hope that someday there will be opportunities to be appointed as civil servants. (5) Having their own prestige with social attributes as honorary staff in the government rather than having to work outside. The motivation of the work of honorary employees in the Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Kota both men and women is generally categorized as Medium. The study found that in general extrinsic motivation is greater than intrinsic motivation. Then the intrinsic motivation of female honorary employees is higher than honorary employees who are male. The work barriers of existing temporary employees are due to: (1) the absence of their career development and (2) the perceived lack of income they receive, which is considered to be out of balance with the needs of their families. But they have no other choice at work. This reached 50.94% and the second percentage was quite large because of the small income and lack of education and training for those who worked which also reached 18.86%.
