Pengaruh Asean-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) Terhadap Industri Garam Nasional Tahun 2011-2015
This research explains about the import of Australia salt based on economic cooperation arranged in the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) agreement signed in 2009 and gave birth to several agreements. With the signing of AANZFTA, the Ministers of Trade of Indonesia and Australia have agreed that a comprehensive bilateral Free Trade Agreement will be built on the strong foundation of AANZFTA and will be the best way to build a new economic partnership between Australia and Indonesia. The ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area Agreement (AANZFTA) is the basis for Indonesia-Australia relations, especially in increasing trade, economy and investment. In the AANZFTA framework, it is stated that tariffs imposed on a number of Australia's superior products to Indonesia will gradually be reduced to 0% and have been enacted since 2009, one of the leading commodities is salt.
The author analyzes and illustrates the influence of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) on the national salt industry. The theoretical framework that the authors use in this study is the perspective of liberalization by Jhon Satuart Mill, Alexander Hamilton, and Friedrich List, with the theory of "strategic trade theory" trading strategies
This research demonstrates that AANZFTA cooperation that affects Indonesia's exports and imports has not been able to produce significant profits, this is because the number of imports imported from countries involved in AANZFTA is so high that Indonesia has not been able to compensate. Therefore, the government needs to realize that in order to save the national salt industry, it is unlikely that trade policy intervention is needed, especially import tariff policies. However, the policy should focus more on revamping the national salt industry, in support of the realization of salt self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
