Model Pengelolaan Limbah Medis Padat Layanan Kesehatan Gigi Mandiri Di Kota Pekanbaru
The medical wastes issue is progressively becoming an alarming condition along with increasing number of health services. This problem of waste becomes more complicated when the health workers waste management commitment has been bad and people's perceptions of medical waste are still wrong. Management of private health service wastes is still treated as domestic waste. Solid medical waste in dental health services contain hazardous and toxic materials to the environment, therefore the management must be according to the rules because it can pose risks to human health, the environment and socio-economic life of the community. Goal: This study aims to find a model of solid medical waste management and its policy strategies in private dental health services. Method: This study uses quantitative analysis methods to analyze the amount, type of wastes, and management behavior as well as the factors that influence it, along with SWOT analysis to obtain waste management strategies and design of a medical waste management model for private dental health services. Result: The amount of solid medical waste is getting increased every year, waste management behavior that is not in accordance with the rules, the potential impact of disruption on the environment, health, social and economic, waste management strategies in the form of providing training and cooperation with licensed waste collectors, and models of waste management scenario based on strategy. Conclusion: The model of solid medical waste management can be used in whole private dental health practice because this model can be applied in similarity with actual phenomenon by simulated training scenarios and collaboration with licensed medical waste manager.
