Kinerja Koagulan Poly Aluminum Chloride (Pac) Dan Sodium Aluminate (Naalo2) Dalam Penjernihan Air Pada Aliran Sungai Siak-Perawang Menjadi Air Bersih
ABSTRACT
In line with the increasing of human population and society awareness on healthy environment,
the needs of clean water will also increase. However, the increasing of this needs is not equal
with the enough availability of clean water in quantity and even decrease together with
uncompatible installation of water treatment. The Jar test method was used in this research in
order to evaluate the efficiency of flocculation and coagulation processes. Poly Aluminum
chloride (PAC) and Sodium Aluminate (NaAlO2) was used as coagulants. PAC was used in
various dossage of concentration i.e, 10, 15, 20 and 25 ppm while variety concentration of
NaAlO2 are 20, 25, 30 and 35 ppm. Parameters analyted are turbidity, pH value, total hardness,
and color . The result showed that 20 ppm of PAC concentration gived the best result for
turbidity (0,29 NTU) and color (1,92 Pt-Co), while 30 ppm concentration of NaAlO2 gived the
best result for total hardness (value 14 mg/L).
