Kombinasi Proses Koagulasi Dan Membran Ultrafiltrasi Dalam Pengolahan Limbah Cair Pulp Dan Kertas
ABSTRACT
The paper and pulp industry is very important economy in the Indonesian. This
industry also wastewater produces which may harm our environment. This study
aims to study the effect of variations in the speed of stirring coagulation using
poly aluminum chloride coagulant (PAC) and ultrafiltration membrane operating
pressure in the processing of pulp and paper wastewater. In the coagulationflocculation
process, 8.0 gr/L coagulant PAC were used with variation in the
coagulation stirring speed of 100 rpm; 200rpm; and 300 rpm for 1 minute and
continued with stirring slowly at 20 rpm for 20 minutes then settling time for 30
minutes. UF membrane process is carried out for 60 minutes with variations in
operating pressure 1.0 bar; 2.0 bar; and 3.0 bars. In each treatment process,
wastewater quality tests were carried out with biochemical oxygen demand
(BOD5), chemical oxygen demmand (COD) and total suspended solid (TSS). In
addition, an analysis of permeat fluxes and the percentage of UF membrane
rejection was also carried out. Based on the analysis of research results obtained
the best coagulation mixing speed at 300 rpm for 1 minute with the reduction
percentage reduction of BOD5, COD and TSS respectively at 78.10%; 45.10%;
and 93.46% while the UF membrane rejection percentage is highest at a pressure
of 3 bar which is equal to 78.93%; 84.22%; and 88.64% respectively for BOD5,
COD and TSS with flux value of 65.95 L/m2.hour.
