Peningkatan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Peserta Didik Kelas VII SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru Melalui Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning
The background of this research is the low of mathematical problem
solving ability of students in SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research is
to describe the difference of the improvement of mathematical problem solving ability of
students who study through Problem Based Learning model and students who study
through conventional learning with scientific approaching. This research is an
experimental research (quasi experiment) with The Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest
Control Group Design. The population of this research is all students of class VII SMP
Negeri 32 Pekanbaru. The Sample of this research consists of two classes, class VII3 as
experiment class and VII1 as control class. The research instruments are mathematical
early ability test and mathematical problem solving ability test. The mathematical early
ability test score were used to select the sample of this research. Data were analyzed by
using Independent Sample T-Test preceded by normality test and homogeneity of
variances test. The result showed that the improvement of mathematical problem
solving ability of students who study through Problem Based Learning model is higher
than students who study through conventional learning with scientific approaching.
