Karakteristik Beton Portland Composite Cement (PCC) Dengan Tambahan Silica Fume Di Air Laut
The use of cement in Indonesia has changed from the Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) type to the Portland Composite Cement (PCC) type. The comparison of the use of PCC and OPC is around 80%: 20%. The increased use of PCC is due to cement that is easily obtained in the market. The use of PCC in concrete used in the seawater environment is still no specific research to increase the strength of concrete. In this study, the addition of silica which will make concrete more resistant to seawater intrusion. The quality of the concrete used is fc'= 30 MPa. The types of tests performed are compressive strength testing, tensile strength testing, porosity testing, corrosion rate testing, chloride penetration testing and SEM-EDX analysis were carried out when the concrete was 7, 28, 91 and 180 days after exposure to seawater. The test results show the use of PCC in concrete used in seawater environments has characteristics that good the compressive strength criteria. However, the addition of silica can increase the strength of concrete. PCC concrete with the addition of silica has higher compressive and tensile strength, lower porosity, lower corrosion rate and chloride penetration than PCC concrete. The results of SEM-EDX analysis also show that PCC concrete with the addition of silica has a smoother surface and fewer pores than PCC concrete. Therefore, it can be concluded that the PCC concrete with the addition of silica has better characteristics than PCC concrete, so it is more recommended for applications in seawater.
