Formulasi Sabun Padat Transparan Dengan Penambahan Ekstrak Umbi Bit (Beta Vulgaris L.) Sebagai Antioksidan
The purpose of this research was to get the best volume of beet root extract
on the antioxidant activity and quality of transparent soap. The research used a
Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The
treatments were addition of beet root extract volume namely UP1 (0 ml), UP2 (2.5
ml), UP3 (5 ml), UP4 (7.5 ml), and UP5 (10 ml) respectively in 100 ml of
transparent soap formula. The data was statistically analyzed using Analysis of
Variance and continued with Duncanʹs New Multiple Range Test at 5%. The
research showed that addition of beet root extract significantly affected on
antioxidant activity, moisture content, total fatty acid, free fatty acid, degree of
acidity (pH), foam stability, and sensory test. The best treatment from this
research was UP5 (addition of 10 ml beet root extract). The transparent soap from
this treatment had 95.58 ppm IC50, 16.00% moisture content, 32.75% total fatty
acid, 0.43% free fatty acid, 9.87 degree of acidity, 79.74% foam stability, and
0.05 iritation test (almost invisible). The result of descriptive test on the
transparent soap showed that the soap had brown color, beet root flavor, and
rather soft texture.
