Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Berbasis Komputer Dengan Pendekatan Saintifik Untuk Meningkatkan Minat Belajar Siswa Pada Materi Pokok Peluang Kelas VIII

This research is motivated by the limited computer-based learning media
with a scientific approach that is in accordance with the demands of the 2013
curriculum and the lack of student interest in learning. Based on the results of
interviews and analysis conducted by researchers, it is found that the use of
computers and technology in learning is still low. This is due to the teacher's lack of
understanding of computer use, limited preparation time, difficulty finding
appropriate and relevant media. Based on the results of observations made by
researchers also obtained that student interest in learning is still low. Low student
interest in learning is characterized by a lack of awareness, interest, feelings of
pleasure and student attention to learning. In this connection, this study aims to
produce valid and practical learning media to be used in the learning process and to
increase student interest in learning.
This type of research is research and development. The development model
used is the 4D model, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. At the define
stage, the researcher conducts front-end analysis, Learner Analysis, Task Analysis,
Concept Analysis, and Specifying Instructional Objectives. At the design stage, the
researcher made the program structure, made the design of the teaching material,
and made the initial design of the media display. In the development stage, the
researcher made a prototype of learning media, validated and revised the product,
and tested the product. At the dissemination stage, the researcher packs the results of
the learning media development product into a compact disc (CD). Then the
instructional media is given to schools.
The development of instructional media is aimed at increasing student
interest in learning. Learning media are designed interactively so that they can
encourage students to be actively involved in learning. Learning media are made
with an attractive appearance. The learning media uses a blend of soft and
harmonious colors. The text display is made so that students can read it. The use of
images and animations is presented attractively as needed. Thus the learning media
developed is expected to be able to increase student interest, attention, and feelings of
pleasure when using learning media.
The learning media developed is an interactive tutorial media. The
instruments used were data validity instruments and data practicality instruments.
The validity data instrument was obtained from the validation sheet. The practicality
data instrument was obtained from student response questionnaires. Learning media
is said to be valid if the minimum level of validity achieved based on the results of the
validator's assessment is included in the valid category with a scale of

. Learning media is said to be practical if the percentage of
practicality is more than 70%.
Validation is carried out on material aspects and media aspects. Based on
the results of the validity data analysis of the validation sheet for the material
aspects, an average value of 3.54 was obtained with very valid criteria for the four
learning media developed. According to the validator, from the material aspect, this
computer-based learning media is suitable for use in learning. However, there are
some suggestions and input provided by the validator to improve the quality of the
media, such as giving initial problems to the learning media, editing questions, and
writing errors. Judging from the results of the analysis of the validation sheet from
the media aspect, it was obtained an average value of 3.47 with very valid criteria for
the four media developed. However, the validator provides suggestions for media
improvements such as eliminating the next slide, home, and previous slide buttons on
some pages if these buttons are not needed, eliminating redundancy of navigation
buttons, and speeding up the loading process on the instructions page.
After the validation process, the researcher proceeded to small group trials.
The revised media according to the advice of the validator was then tried out on 16
grade IX students of SMP Mutiara Harapan Pangkalan Kerinci. 16 grade IX students
were divided into 2 groups. Each group consists of 2 high-ability students, 4
moderate-ability students, and 2 low-ability students. Selection of students based on
suggestions from the teacher of mathematics at school.
The implementation of small group trials was carried out by sending
learning media files through the Edmodo program. Edmodo is a social networkbased
learning platform. The researcher, assisted by a math teacher, sent a learning
media file along with a student response questionnaire via Edmodo. Students then
download the media file and response questionnaire, which they then try out at their
respective homes. The trial process must be done online via the zoom application.
The trial process cannot be done face-to-face due to circumstances that do not allow
it. In the trial process, students are assisted online by a mathematics teacher.
After testing the use of media, students are asked to respond to the media
they have tried by giving a value of 1,2,3 or 4 for each statement contained in the
response questionnaire. The response questionnaires that have been prepared by the
students are sent back through the Edmodo platform. Researchers download the
questionnaire that has been filled, then calculate and analyze the results of the
student response questionnaire to the practicality of the developed learning media.
The response questionnaire contains aspects of the appearance of learning
media, aspects of presenting material on learning media, and aspects of programs on
learning media. Based on the results of the student response questionnaire analysis,
the display aspect obtained an average score of 88.3% which is in the very practical
category. The presentation aspect of the material obtained an average value of 92.1%
with very practical criteria. Aspects of the program an average score of 91.4% with
very practical criteria. The results of student responses show that all media have met
the very practical criteria with an average percentage of 90.59%. Overall the

implementation of the limited trial ran smoothly. The students admitted that they were
enthusiastic about using the media provided by the researcher.
Based on the results of expert validation and the results of student response
questionnaires on limited trials, it can be concluded that computer-based learning
media with a scientific approach to opportunity material has met the validity and
practicality requirements.
