Pengolahan Sabut Kelapa Dengan Tiga Tingkat Kematangan Menjadi Briket Arang
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the level maturity of coconuts in
making charcoal briquettes. The study was conducted experimentally using a complete
randomized design consisting of three treatments and five replications to get fifteen experimental
units. The treatments in this study were the young coconut fiber (PM), half aged coconut fiber
(PS), and old coconut fiber (PT). The data obtained were analized using analysis of variance and
then continued with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The parameters observed
in this study were charcoal yield, moisture content, vapour content, ash content, bound carbon
content, and heating value . The results of this research three level of maturity coconut fiber,
had a significant effect on charcoal yield, moisture content, vapor content, ash content, bound
carbon content, and heating value. Based on the results of the analysis, the best treatment in this
study were old coconut fiber with had 19.32% charcoal yield, 3.60% moisture content, 14.98%
evaporating content, 13.18% ash content, 68.22% bound carbon content, and 7271.22 cal/g
heating value.
