Pemberian Aromaterapi Lemon Dan Peppermint Terhadap Penurunan Intensitas Mual Dan Muntah Pada Ibu Hamil Trimester Pertama: Literature Review
Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy or more commonly known as morning sickness occurs in the
first trimester of pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting are common in the 6th week of pregnancy until
the 16th week of gestation, with the peak of the worst nausea feelings at weeks 7 - 9. Nausea in
early pregnancy can be reduced by using complementary therapies, one of which uses lemon and
peppermint aromatherapy has been known to be effective in reducing the intensity of nausea and
vomiting during pregnancy. This study aims to review the effect of lemon and peppermint
aromatherapy toward reduction nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women. The
method used is simply systematic literature review. From using 7 journal, 3 of them were about
the effect of lemon aromatherapy in reducing nausea and vomiting on trimester I pregnant
women, and 4 others regarding the effect peppermint aromatherapy on reducing nausea and
vomiting in first trimester pregnant women. Data sources were obtained from Google Scholar,
Science Direct, dan Wiley Online Library. The results obtained are based on 7 journals it was
found that the provision of lemon and peppermint aromatherapy was proven to be influential and
effective in reducing intensity of nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women. The
conclusion in this study shows that lemon aromatherapy to get the best results is given at a dose
of 0.2 ml or 0.3 ml and inhaled in the morning when you wake up, and can also be inhaled when
the mother feels nauseous. Meanwhile, peppermint aromatherapy is more effective in the form of
aromatherapy than in the form of decoction.
