Pengolahan Air Limbah Kegiatan Laundry Menggunakan Metode Floating Treatment Wetland

ABSTRACT
Population density in Indonesia causes various problems, especially environmental
pollution due to daily activities that produce wastewater, such as domestic
wastewater. Laundry services are growing rapidly without being accompanied by
wastewater treatment. Wastewater from laundry activities can cause environmental
pollution if disposed of without wastewater treatment. One simple technology is
constructed wetlands. One variant of constructed wetland is a floating treatment
wetland which is generally used in water areas. This study aims to determine how
much influence surface coverage and detention time using vetiver plants and
floating mat styrofoam in domestic wastewater management. The variation studied
was the detention time with 0, 5, 10, and 15 days and surface coverage with 5%,
10%, and 15%. The water quality parameters tested were pH, COD, and TSS. The
statistical test used in this study is two-way ANOVA (analysis of variance) without
interaction. The results of research on floating treatment wetland using vetiver
plants and floating mat styrofoam showed that the floating treatment wetland
resulted in the highest efficiency in reducing pH from 9,4 to 7,3, COD from 1230
mg/L to 60 mg/L or 95,12%, and TSS from 1200 mg/L to 200 mg/L or 83,33%. The
plant-less control reactor produced the highest efficiency in reducing pH from 9,4
to 7,7, COD from 1230 mg/L to 250 mg/L or 79,67%, and TSS from 1200 mg/L to
600 mg/L or 50%. The results showed that floating wetland treatment can improve
the quality of wastewater.
