Kemenangan Pasangan Petahana Firdaus-Ayat Melalui Basis Massa Dalam Pilkada Kota Pekanbaru Tahun 2017
The 2017 Pekanbaru City Election was participated by five pairs of
candidates, one of which was the incumbent pair Firdaus-Ayat who was promoted
by the Partai Demokrat, Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) and the Partai Gerakan
Indonesia Raya (Gerindra). The Firdaus-Ayat pair managed to became mayor
and deputy mayor of Pekanbaru for the second time for the 2017-2022 period
with 94,784 votes or 33.16%. This shows that the winning team for the incumbent
Firdaus-Ayat pair managed to get mass support.
This study aims to see the victory of the incumbent Firdaus-Ayat pair
through a mass basis in the election for the mayor and deputy mayor of
Pekanbaru in 2017 which was carried out by the winning team for the incumbent
pair using three approaches in political marketing, namely pull marketing, push
marketing and pass marketing. This study used a qualitative approach and
descriptive research type with data collection techniques used were interviews
and documentation.
The results showed that the political marketing strategy used by the
winning team of the incumbent Firdaus-Ayat in capturing the masses was divided
into three approaches, namely pull marketing (approach through media), push
marketing (approach to voters directly) and pass marketing (approach through
influencers). . The push marketing approach adopted by the winning team of
Firdaus-Ayat pair was very effective in capturing and defending the mass base.
The mass basis for the victory of the incumbent pair Firdaus-Ayat in the 2017
local election of Pekanbaru City consisted of cadres of supporting political
parties of the Firdaus-Ayat pair (Partai Demokrat, Partai Keadilan Sejahtera,
and Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya); Community leaders who have big names in
Pekanbaru City, Riau Province and National levels; Pekanbaru city mass
organizations; Ethnic Leaders in Pekanbaru City; Beginner Voters; as well as the
volunteers of the incumbent Firdaus-Ayat pair.
