Teacher discipline is closely related to compliance in applying school
regulations. A disciplined attitude will encourage a teacher to work in accordance
with applicable rules and procedures. Therefore, enforcing discipline is very
important, because with discipline it can be known how much rules can be obeyed
by teachers. Disciplined teachers will comply with all organizational rules and
policies. In carrying out the work of teachers are able to provide maximum
service in accordance with the field of work. To create discipline this teacher
needs good cooperation between the principal and all components of the school
environment and the spirit of work of the teacher itself.
The success of education in schools is largely determined by the principal
in leading and taking decisions to create the spirit of teacher work and manage
the discipline of the teacher in the school. In his role as a leader, the headmaster
must be able to pay attention to the needs and feelings of the working people so
that the spirit of teacher work and teacher discipline are maintained. A leader's
success will be realized if the leader treats his subordinates well.
In addition to the leadership of the principal, the teacher's work spirit also
affects the discipline of the teacher. Qualified teachers tend to have a high spirit
of work. Teachers who have a high spirit of work will be more successful than
teachers who do not have a spirit of work or seriousness in their duties and are
responsible. The spirit of work is important in supporting the implementation of
one's duties, especially teachers. So that in its implementation, every work it does
will be better and discipline will increase.
This study aims to analyze the influence of Principal Leadership (X1)on
Teacher Discipline (Y), the influence of Teacher Work Spirit (X2)on Teacher
Discipline (Y), and the influence of Principal Leadership (X1),Teacher Work Spirit
(X2) simultaneously(together) on Teacher Discipline (Y) of Elementary School in
Group XII of East Dumai Subdistrict. This research is a survey research with a
descriptive quantitative approach. This research data is the result of respondents'
answers that have been collected using research instruments in the form of
questionnaires (questionnaires) with a measurement scale using a Rating Scale
that is distributed to 92 respondents consisting of elementary school teachers in
Group XII East Dumai Subdistrict.
After analysis and discussion on the influence of the principal leadership
and the spirit of teacher work on the discipline of elementary school teachers in
Group XII East Dumai Subdistrict obtained the results that: (1) The leadership of
the principal positively affects teacher discipline by 0.088 means that the
leadership of the principal has little effect on teacher discipline. (2) The Spirit of
Teacher Work positively affects teacher discipline by 0.894 which means that
close to 1 then the teacher's work has a big effect on teacher discipline. (3) The
leadership of the principal and the spirit of teacher work together positively affect

the discipline of the teacher as evidenced by Fcount = 473,610 > Ftable = 3.09 with
a significance level of 0.05 which means that there is a positive influence of the
headmaster's leadership and the spirit of teacher work on teacher discipline is
mutually acceptable.
