Central obesity is a state of the body characterized by the accumulation of
excess fat in the abdominal area and is a component of metabolic syndrome and
an important role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and cancer. One
of the main causes of central obesity is imbalanced diet, such as high
carbohydrate and fat intake and low fiber. The purpose of this study was to
analyze carbohydrate and fat intake in young adults with central obesity. This
research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling
technique used the purposive sampling method with 66 people, 33 people with
central obesity, and 33 people with non-central obesity. The results of this study
indicate that the average daily consumption of carbohydrates in central obesity
was higher (341,74 g/day) than the consumption of carbohydrates in non-central
obesity (263,26 g/day) and the median daily consumption of fat in obesity was
higher (154,12 g/day) than non-central obesity (103,56 g/day). There was a
significant difference in carbohydrate intake and fat intake between young adults
with central obesity and non-central obesity (p = 0.000).
