Prevalensi Dan Faktor Risiko Prehipertensi Dan Hipertensi Pada Mahasiswa Tingkat Akhir Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Riau
Hypertension is a nations’ health problem that is most often found in primary
health care. Prehypertension is not a disease, but a reminder to lower blood
pressure before hypertension and its complications. Nowadays, prehypertension
and hypertension are increased in young adults (18-29 years old) and often go
undiagnosed. This study aimed to find out the prevalence and risk factors for
prehypertension and hypertension among final year students in the Medical
Faculty of Riau University. This research is an observational descriptive study
that was conducted from October 2020 until April 2021. The research data were
obtained from 118 respondents consisting of 33 (28%) males and 85 (72%)
females. The results of this study were prehypertension was found in 41
respondents (34,7%), hypertension in 12 respondents (5,9%). The risk factors
obtained included male gender 28%, family history of hypertension 81.4%,
overweight body mass index 13.6% and obesity 22.9%, low physical activity
54.2%, smoking 3.4% and ex-smoker 4.2%, alcohol consumption 5.9%, poor
dietary habit 63.9%, severe stress level 12.7% and very severe 11%, and poor
sleep quality 87.3%.
