Faktor-Faktor Yang Memengaruhi Praktik Buang Air Besar Sembarangan Pada Anak Sdn 001 Buluh Cina
Good and correct defecation practices greatly affect human health and
play a role in determining the degree of public health. Open defecation behavior
is still often found in rural areas and residential locations close to water areas,
especially in school-age children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the
factors that influence the practice of open defecation in children at the 001 Buluh
Cina Primary school. The design of this research is analytic with cross-sectional
method. The population in this study were all children from grades 3-6 with a
total of 110 people. Samples were taken by means of a total sampling of 85 people
who had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The independent variables in
this study were gender, knowledge, attitudes, location/position of the house to the
river and the availability of latrines, while the dependent variable was the
practice of defecation. The instrument used is a questionnaire to determine the
knowledge, attitudes and practices of defecation in respondents. Data analysis
was performed univariate and bivariate (using chi-square test with =0.05). The
results showed that there was no influence between gender (p value=0.437),
knowledge (p value=0.347), attitude (p value=0.172), and home location/position
(p value=0.534) on open defecation. However, there is an effect between the
availability of latrines and open defecation (p value = 0.007). The conclusion is
that there is a relationship between the availability of latrines and the practice of
defecation.
