Representasi Makna Gender Pembalap Motor Perempuan Di Kota Pekanbaru

Along with the development of society that fights for gender equality, some
of the roles attached to men and women have been exchanged. This can be proven by
the number of women who dare to enter the area of masculinity and dare to appear in
the public sector. no matter how heavy or dangerous the work is as long as that
person is able to do it, there is no longer any difference between men and women.
This study was conducted to determine the representation of women as motorcycle
racers, the symbols and meanings represented by women racers. This study involved
2 female motorcycle racers named Rian Ragil and Desymah Lubis.
The research method that the author uses in this study is a qualitative
method with a critical approach by looking at the observed reality as a pseudo reality
that has been formed by history and social, cultural, economic and political forces.
Data obtained through the process of interviews, observation, and documentation.
Using data analysis techniques Miles and Huberman.
Based on the results of the interviews and discussion above, it can be
concluded that the representation of women as motorcycle racers is the existence of
equal treatment in the training process between male and female racers, so that it
does not cause gender discrimination. The symbols and meanings of female
motorcycle racers show different symbols so that they also show different meanings,
where the racer looks masculine as well as feminine.
