Penerapan Media Pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Stem Kontekstual Untuk Meningkatkan High Order Thinking Skill Siswa Pada Materi Rangkaian Listrik
The United Nations through UNESCO stated that 21st century learning skills must be possessed as a vision of 21st century learning. The role of the teacher in the 2013 curriculum is not only a source of learning but also as a facilitator in all learning activities. In Bloom's taxonomy, skills involving analysis, evaluation, and synthesis are considered higher order that require learning methods, knowledge, facts and concepts. In increasing student mastery of HOTS questions, alternative solutions are needed, one of which is direct learning using STEM-based learning media. Learning media in general is a set of tools or complementary used by teachers or educators in order to communicate with students. Learning is directed at finding out and doing so that it helps students to gain a deeper experience of the natural surroundings. The provision of direct experience and the process of finding out and doing what is meant here is very effective in its implementation if learning is carried out using learning media. The purpose of this study was to describe and determine the differences in the improvement of students' HOTS abilities in science learning through the application of contextual STEM-based learning media on electrical circuit material in class IX MTsN 8 Kampar. The benefits of this research can be used as a reference in the application of science learning media, besides that students, teachers, schools and other researchers can feel the benefits. This type of research is quasi-experimental. The design used in this study was a posttest-only control design. This research was conducted to determine the students' HOTS ability. The sample of this research is grade IX students. 2 which amounted to 28 people and class IX.3 students, totaling 28 people. The data collection instrument used was a student's HOTS ability test. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis technique and inferential analysis.
After a descriptive analysis of the research data was carried out, it was found that the average class IX.3 as the experimental class was higher than the class IX.2 as the control class, with less category. The experimental class is class
iv
IX.3 with an average of 38.46%. As for the control class, namely class IX.2 is 27.75% with less category. Inferential analysis in this study includes normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. After the prerequisite test was carried out, it turned out that the research data were not normally distributed. So that the hypothesis test used is the Mann Whitney test. Hypothesis testing is carried out to test the hypothesis H0. Based on the output of the Mann Whitney test, the Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) value is 0.011. Based on the provisions, if Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) > 0.025 then H0 is accepted. It can be seen in the data obtained by Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) 0.011 < 0.025 so Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a difference in students' HOTS abilities between classes that apply contextual STEM-based learning media and classes that apply conventional media to electrical circuit material for class IX MTsN 8 Kampar.
Based on the results of the research that has been done, there are differences in students' HOTS abilities between the experimental class and the control class. The results of the study can be used as a reference for other researchers by evaluating learning media that are practical and easy to use by students and teachers, and can be used as an alternative learning media that can be applied in science learning.
