Analisis Kegagalan Spherical Roller Bearing Pada Wrist Pin Di Pompa Angguk (Beam Pump)
ABSTRACT
The failure of the beam pump is something that as much as possible does not
happen because the amount of oil production is affected by the performance of the
beam pump. The component in the beam pump that often fails is the wrist pin
bearing, it is necessary to do a failure analysis to determine the causes and types
of failure in the bearing and obtain recommendations for solutions so that similar
incidents do not occur in the future. The stages that can be carried out in
conducting failure analysis on wrist pin bearings are literature study, data
collection, preliminary examination which includes visual observations and
fractographic studies, calculation of the load acting on the bobbing pump and
simulation according to conditions to determine the location of the maximum
stress experienced by the bearing. The results of the analysis show that the
bearings fail faster than the theoretical bearing life using maximum and minimum
loads. The bearing failure mode is surface initiated fatigue which is indicated by
the presence of fine particles, crack extension and spalling damage to the raceway
in the outer ring caused by stress fluctuations. Factors that affect bearing failure is
the use of inappropriate lubricants. This is confirmed by the manual book data and
field data which state the difference in the use of grease and the hardness test
states that the bearing does not experience a decrease in hardness value, so this
strengthens the analysis that the bearing has poor service conditions.
