Stratifikasi Sosial Masyarakat Perikanan Di Nagari Bayua Kecamatan Tanjung Raya Kabupaten Agam Sumatera Barat
Abstract
This research was conducted in August 2021 at Kenagarian Bayua, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. The method used in this research is a survey method with a qualitative approach. Determination of informants was carried out using the purposive sampling technique (deliberate sampling. This study aims to analyze the forms of social stratification based on honor, wealth, power and education in the fishing community in Nagari Bayua and analyze the characteristics of social stratification of the fishing community in Nagari Bayua.
The results showed that the social strata of the fishing community in Nagari Bayua were divided into three layers, namely the upper class, middle class and lower class. The upper class is occupied by religious leaders and tribal leaders as well as large-scale fish cultivators who have many economic assets, are highly educated and have large incomes, the middle group is occupied by small-scale cultivators who have medium incomes and the lower class is occupied by traditional fishermen and fish traders in the market. traditional people who do not have economic assets, low levels of education and low incomes. The nature of the social stratification of the Nagari Bayua fishing community is open, this can be seen from every member of the Nagari Bayua fishing community having the same opportunity to be able to go up or down from one level to another. This change can be caused by the effort made and because of their abilities and skills.
