ABSTRACT

Prof. M.Yamin, S.H. Bangkinang Road is a national road that connects Riau
province and West Sumatra province. This road is the main access connecting the
Bangkinang Kota District with Pekanbaru City before the construction of the Trans
Sumatra toll road in section XIII Koto Kampar - Bangkinang - Pekanbaru. This is
marked by the presence of heavy vehicles that influence the flow of economic
activities. One segment of Prof. M.Yamin, S.H. Bangkinang Road that often
experiences damage is the section from km 56+700 to km 58+700. Therefore, it is
important to pay attention to the stability of the road and its maintenance. This
study aims to analyze the types of damage and improvement recommendations that
can be applied to Prof. M.Yamin, S.H. Bangkinang Road Km 56+700 - Km 58+700.
The Surface Distress Index (SDI) method and the Pavement Condition Index (PCI)
method are used to evaluate the condition of the road. Based on the research
results, both methods resulted in evaluation outcomes with a significant difference.
For the SDI method, all segments reviewed from the direction of Pekanbaru –
Bangkinang as well as from Bangkinang – Pekanbaru are categorized in good
condition, with SDI values ranging from 0 to 50 with recommendations for average
routine maintenance improvements. Meanwhile, for the PCI method, in the
direction of Pekanbaru – Bangkinang, the evaluation results show an average
condition of fair with a PCI value of 69.04, hence the recommended improvement
that can be made is structural enhancement. For the opposite direction, from
Bangkinang – Pekanbaru, the average condition also turns out to be fair with a PCI
value of 56.58, thus the recommended improvement that can be made is also
structural enhancement.
