Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Harga Beras Di Provinsi Riau

ABSTRACT


Rice is a staple food commodity that is very important for fulfilling food needs in Riau Province. Over the last 13 years, from 2011 to 2023, the price of rice in Riau Province has shown an increasing trend. This study aims to determine and analyze the development of rice demand and supply in Riau Province, to identify and analyze the factors that influence the price of rice in Riau Province, and to analyze the dominant factor affecting the price of rice in Riau Province. This research was conducted in Riau Province from April to September 2024, using secondary time-series data from 2011 to 2023. The first objective was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, while the second and third objectives were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the average rice production from 2011 to 2023 was 199,560.97 tons, which only covered about 34.12 percent of the community's demand (585,150.82 tons), while the remaining 65.88 percent of the unmet rice demand was fulfilled by importing rice from other regions and abroad. Furthermore, the real price of rice in supplier regions, rice consumption, and population size had a positive and significant effect on the real price of rice in Riau, with rice consumption being the most dominant factor. In contrast, the real price of harvested dry grain had no significant effect on the real price of rice in Riau. The coefficient of determination (R square) of this model shows that 95,7 percent of the variation in rice prices can be explained by the independent variables in the model, emphasizing the combined influence of these factors.
