Arang Aktif Dari Kulit Buah Jengkol Dengan Variasi Konsentrasi Natrium Hidroksida (Naoh)
ABSTRACT
Jengkol fruit peel are plantation waste that can be used as raw materials for
activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is made by carbonization and activation
processes. This research aimeds to obtain the best concentration of Natrium
Hydroxide as an activator in making activated charcoal from jengkol fruit peel. The
research was conducted experimentally used a completely randomized design
(CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this research
used variations in NaOH concentration, namely P1 (NaOH 1%), P2 (NaOH 1.5%),
P3 (NaOH 2%), P4 (NaOH 2.5%) and P5 (NaOH 3%). The observations parameter
tested included yield, moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, and
iodine absorption. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using statistical
software IBM SPSS version 26 with an Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test, if
Fcount ≥ Ftable then the treatment had a significant effect and the analysis continued
with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed
that increased NaOH concentration had a significant effect on all observations
parameters and has fulfilled with SNI 06-3730-1995. Activated charcoal with the
best treatment was found on P5 treatment (NaOH 3%) with a yield of 76.40%,
moisture content of 4.58%, ash content of 7.93%, volatile matter content of 12.19%,
and iodine absorption of 903.52 mg/g.
