ABSTRACT
The world of Information and Communication Technology or better known as the
IT world cannot be separated from computer networks. The development of the
world of computer networks is very fast, all computers are expected to communicate
with each other. The development of the IT world is needed in the world of
educational institutions that utilize the internet to support the learning process.
Teachers, employees and students utilize internet access as a means for information
search and communication. But in addition to the huge benefits of the internet, there
are negative impacts caused by the entry of malware and attacks from outside that
can harm computer systems and reduce network performance. They can enter
through open ports that are not used in network systems to minimize the occurrence
of network abuse, there is a need for network security. In this study, it is necessary
to have a computer network security by using the Firewall method on the mikrotik.
A firewall is a security system usually used to block ip addresses from mail servers
that send viruses or web page addresses that are prohibited from being opened. In
other words, a firewall is the most advanced defense system for network security.
