Pemanfaatan Ekstrak Umbi Bit (Beta Vulgaris L.) Sebagai Antioksidan Dalam Pembuatan Sabun Mandi Cair
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to get the best volume of beet root extract on the
antioxidant activity and quality of liquid bath soap. The research used a Complete
Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments
were addition of beet root extract volume namely S0 (0 ml), S1 (5 ml), S2 (10
ml), S3 (15 ml), and S4 (20 ml) respectively in 100 ml of liquid bath soap
formula. The data was statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance and
continued with Duncanʹs New Multiple Range Test at 5%. The research showed
that addition of beet root extract significantly affected on the density, free alkali,
degree of acidity (pH), viscosity, descriptive test, hedonic test, and antioxidant
activity. The best treatment of liquid bath soap in this research was S4 (addition of
20 ml beet root extract) which had density 1.07 g/ml, free alkali 0%, pH 9.96,
foam stability 88%, viscosity 179.86 cP, and antioxidant activity 88.13 ppm. The
result of a descriptive test on liquid bath soap showed that the soap had brown
color, and beet root flavor.
