ABSTRACT
The village is the spearhead of the government in carrying out development. Villages are given the authority to regulate and organize their own territory, the ultimate goal of village development is to achieve village independence. Developed and independent villages aim to improve the quality of life and community welfare. Where Sungai Pinang Village which is an industrial village is also strategic and able to become an independent village. This study aims to find out how the role of the Sungai Pinang village government in the mining district of Kampar Regency in realizing an independent village and the factors that influence it. This type of research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data was collected using field observations, interviews, and documentation of both primary and secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the role of the village government in realizing an independent village in Sungai Pinang, mining sub-district, Kampar Regency is not yet optimal where the village government is still not able to utilize existing natural resources and there are limited funds and the community is still passive in participating.
