Karakteristik Briket Arang Berbahan Baku Jerami Padi Dan Daun Kelapa Sawit Dengan Perekat Tapioka
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to obtain the best characteristics of charcoal briquettes made from rice straw and palm oil leaves with tapioca adhesive. The study used Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were a ratio of straw rice charcoal and palm oil leaves charcoal 50:50, 40:60, 30:70, 20:80, 10:90. Data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The result showed that the ratio of rice straw and oil palm leaves in each treatment significantly affected water content, ash content, volatile matter, bound carbon content, density, combustion power, and calorific value. The best treatment was a charcoal briquette wich made from ratio rice straw and oil palm leaves 10:90 with water content 4.82%, ash content 15.56%, volatile matter 12.52%, bound carbon content 67.10%, density 0.54 g/cm3, combustion power 0.0044 g/second, and calorific value 5294 cal/g.
