Ekstraksi Minyak Atsiri Dari Daun Eucalyptus Hybrid Menggunakan Metode Ultrasound-Distilasi
ABSTRACT
Eucalyptus hybrid oil is one oil that is widely used in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries. Currently, there is no research on the extraction of essential oils from hybrid Eucalyptus leaves using ultrasound equipment. In this study, the extraction of essential oil from hybrid Eucalyptus leaves was carried out using an ultrasound device in order to speed up the extraction which is expected to increase the amount of yield compared to the distillation method. The purpose of this study was to study the extraction of essential oils from Eucalyptus hybrid leaves using the ultrasound-distillation method, as well as to study the factors that influence the extraction including leaf size/sample (powder, chopped, and whole), extraction time (5, 15, 25 and 35 minutes), sample:solvent ratio on essential oil extraction from Eucalyptus hybrid leaves (1:8; 1:10; 1:16 and 1:20 gr/mL). From the results of this study, it can be seen that the optimal operating conditions for the extraction of Eucalyptus hybrid oil using ultrasound-distillation were obtained when using hybrid Eucalyptus leaves with chopped conditions (±1 cm) and an F/S ratio of 1:20 gr/mL with a yield of 5,31%. In general, the extraction of essential oil from hybrid Eucalyptus leaves using the ultrasound-distillation method resulted in a higher yield (5.31%.) compared to using the distillation method alone (4.86%) at an F/S ratio of 1:20.
