Prarancangan Pabrik Butadiena Dari N-Butana Dengan Proses Lummus Technology Dan Disain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi (T-101)
Indonesia as a developing country is currently trying to meet the needs of various chemicals to expedite the industrialization process. In fact, until now there are many chemicals that cannot be fulfilled by themselves and must be imported from other countries. One of the industrial raw materials that has not been fulfilled in Indonesia is butadiene compounds. An important use of butadiene is as the main raw material for the manufacture of synthetic rubber and elastomers such as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Rubber (ABS) and raw material for the manufacture of Hydroxy Terminated Polybutadiene (HTPB) for rocket propellants. The main raw material used in the manufacture of butadiene is n-butane. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours/day with a capacity of 50000 tons/year which will be established in Bontang, East Kalimantan. The remaining time during the operation process is used for shutdown, plant maintenance, equipment maintenance and repair. The main equipment design in this factory is a distillation tower (T-101) which functions to separate butene from n-butane. This distillation tower is operated at a pressure of 5 atm and a temperature of 43oC. Economic analysis in the design of this plant shows that the isopropanolamine plant is feasible to establish. With a Break Event Point (BEP) of 58%, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 24.8%, Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.69%, and Pay Back Period (PBP) of 2.9 years.
