Prarancangan Pabrik Benzil Alkohol Dari Benzil Klorida, Natrium Karbonat Dan Air Dengan Disain Alat Utama Reaktor (R-101)
Industrial sector is a very important factor for the nation's economic development. The chemical sector is one area that may be expanded to minimize Indonesia's reliance on foreign industries, lowering foreign exchange expenditures on materials such as benzyl alcohol imports. Benzyl alcohol is a compound that is widely used as a base material or as a supporting material in the manufacture of medicines, perfumes, cosmetics, solvents, textiles, photography, and as a basic material for other chemical industries. To acquire a production capacity of 10,000 tons/year, the feed in the form of benzyl chloride is hydrolyzed with sodium carbonate solution. The CSTR (Continuous Flow Stirred-Tank Reactor) reactor is the primary design tool for forming benzyl alcohol compounds from the hydrolysis process. The reactor was operated at a temperature of 110 degrees Celsius and a pressure of 2 atm. The achieved reactor diameter (OD) is 168 in and includes a heating mantle. The head is a torispherical dished head with a turbine-style impeller. The Break Even Point (BEP) is 42 %, the Return On Investment (ROI) is 23.12 %, and the Pay Out Time (POT) is 3.12 years, according to the manufacturing feasibility research. As a result of the analysis, it may be determined that the factory is viable to construct.
