Prarancangan Pabrik Dimetil Formamid Menggunakan Proses Davy Process Technology Dengan Disain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi (T-101)
Dimethyl formamide ((CH3)2HCON) or abbreviated DMF is an organic compound in the form of a colorless liquid that can be mixed with water and most organic liquids. DMF has the main function as a solvent with a low evaporation rate. The estimated percentage of DMF consumption in various sectors is acrylic fiber production at 44%, pharmaceutical production at 38%, polyurethane manufacturing at 8% and other applications at 10%. DMF is produced commercially using the Davy process. The manufacture of DMF by reacting carbon monoxide with dimethyl amine (DMA), using an alkaline alkoxide solution (usually sodium methoxide is used) in methanol as a catalyst. The reactor used in DMA carbonylation is a bubble column reactor. The output of the reactor is crude DMF, DMA, sodium methoxide catalyst, methanol, salt and CO. The next step is product purification with a salt separation step and a DMF separation step to obtain a DMF product with a purity of 99,9%. The major design is a distillation tower which aims to separate DMF from the mixture. With the DMF plant, it is expected to reduce the need for imports. The type of distillation tower used is a sieve tray tower. The operating conditions of the distillation tower are 65,2 oC at the top and 160 oC at the bottom with a pressure of 1,24 bar each. Plant economic analysis is carried out to determine the feasibility of the plant to be built. Based on the results of the economic feasibility analysis of the plant, the DMF plant is feasible to build with PBP 1,64 years, IRR 22,746%, ROI 47,62% and BEP 32%.
